This post features the original story in which I was going to base my Children's book on. Despite the story being unfinished I decided to change and take a different approach to my Children's book as after I was reading through it and realised the story was too complex and really drawn out. The script below wouldn't be suitable enough for Children's book aimed between 0-5.
The unused script:
Splosh and The New
School

FAMILY KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM – MORNING/DAYTIME
This is Splosh, it’s
her first day of school today.
Splosh sat and ate
her toast with butterflies in her tummy.
She was nervous and
scared about where she was going.

Once her toast was
finished her mum called her to put on her wellies and get ready to leave.
Her knee’s wobbled,
looking up to her mum with a frown and eyes of shock.
SPLOSH
Mummy, I don’t want
to go to school.

from the view of the mother’
SPLOSH’S MOTHER
But you have to,
Splosh.
It’s your first day,
don’t be silly!
Splosh sighed and picked up her small bag filled with
crayons, leaving the house with her mum.

THE STREET – MORNING/DAYTIME
Splosh tugged onto her mum’s top and looked up to her
mum again.
SPLOSH
Mummy, I don’t feel
well…
I can’t go to school
now
SPLOSH’S MOTHER
Come on, we’re nearly
there now. You’ll enjoy it when we get there.
‘Illustration of Splosh and her mother approaching the
school in the distance’
Splosh started to sniffle, her frown bigger and larger
as single tear drop fell from her eye
Splosh’s mother
picked up Splosh and put her in her arms.
SPLOSH’S MOTHER
Don’t worry, you’ll get to make a lot of new friends
when you’re there and you’ll be able to draw there as well.
‘Illustration of Splosh in her mother’s arms as
Splosh’s Mother wipes her tears away’
Splosh smiled for a moment, she loved to draw and so
carried on walking to school with her mother to the school.

THE SCHOOL ENTRANCE – MORNING/DAYTIME
SPLOSH’S MUM
Here we are, I’ll be
back at three to collect you
As Splosh and her mum reached the school, Splosh’s
teacher stood at the gate.
‘Illustration of Splosh and her mother closing in on
the gate of the school as her teacher stands close to the gate’
Splosh looked at her mum one last time.
SPLOSH
Please don’t let me
go, I don’t like school!
In flash, Splosh hid behind her mother, looking to the
side of her in curiosity and red in the face.
The teacher smiled and walked up to Splosh and her
mother.
Splosh quickly hid her face; she didn’t want to go to
school.
